Twelve Cases of Coronavirus in Galveston County

So we have a few cases in our area, three in my suburb city. Technically, we’re Galveston county, but Harris county is literally 5 blocks from me on one side, which puts me about halfway between Galveston and Houston. We’re a suburb of Houston proper, but it doesn’t feel like Houston to me, which I like. I like being close enough to the big city amenities but far enough away not to get stuck in the worst of traffic and big city problems.

There are three cases of coronavirus in League City, where I live. There are 12 cases in the county of Galveston. It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s enough to be scary that it’s going to get worse. Knowing who the 12 people are, or the three people in my actual city, are means they are tracking who has been exposed. It seems like less than I would have expected by this point. Harris County is showing over 119 cases with 1 death.

And I’m sure in some areas, the overwhelm is there, hospitals are full of people wanting and needing to be tested. The ‘regular’ flu is going on right now too. But it doesn’t seem as bad as I thought it was going to be. Part of that is because people like me and Rissa, and Angel, and others are staying home and doing what it takes to keep ourselves safe as possible. It’s not fun or easier, but it’s the right and responsible thing to do.

It seems so much ‘less’ than I was expecting. I’m not saying the lives that have been lost aren’t awful. But I did expect it to be much worse in our area than it has been. Does that mean we’re doing it right and we are successfully flattening the curve in my area? If so, yay League City!

Less traffic on the road, my son says, but not as little as he had expected.

Check out this website Flatten the Curve. It’s a wealth of good information when it’s hard to find good information.

What will happen if the president lifts all the sanctions on Easter Sunday. I don’t think that’s long enough of a time and I think we’re going to see a spike of infections especially in largely populated areas. It would suck to have gone through all of this and have it be for nothing because we stopped just a little bit too soon.

What’s your thoughts? Tell me in the comments…. is it as bad as you thought it would be? Anyone you know, yourself included, been directly affected by the coronavirus? Do you think Easter is long enough or do we need longer social distancing than that?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
