I Finished a Book

THE ADVOCATE, complete at 82,400 words of shitty first draft, so begins the process of editing, editing, editing, rewriting, and editing.

I read through the ending again last night and made a few minor rewriting changes. I felt satisfied with the ending even though it didn’t happen exactly like I had planned. Sometimes characters just DO things without asking you, and Rebecca just didn’t want to stay in that office. So she left the office and made her way down the hall just in time to do…

…well, I guess you’ll have to wait until I find someone to publish this book to find out what she does.

I sent it off to my editor last night, then made a bunch of edits and sent the updated copy to my editor. Then made a bunch of edits. and then sent a new copy to her. And then told her today to throw them all in the trash and I’ll send her a new one later today. I can’t stop editing it and rewriting small portions here and there.

I’d already sent it to several people to read too…. before the edits. Silly me.

This makes my fifth finished full-length book, three non-fiction and one fiction. The non-fiction, one was published by Vanilla Heart Publishing years ago, about 12-13 years ago now, called THE PATH. A short book of poetry and prose titled IN A PERFECT WORLD was published by Savino Publishing, about 20 years ago. A non-fiction book was contracted on How to Create an Effective Employee Handbook, which was published by Atlantic Publishing, and then I wrote a gay dating guide for a small company on Elance, just a PDF but it was a full-length guide that I was paid a hefty sum to write, but no royalties.

I have two novellas or novellettes that I published through A Novel Approach Publishing. They are great shorter than novels but longer than a short story–quick reads, but with full character development and plot. They are FATED FAMILY and CELESTE. I would love it if you clicked on those links and purchased them to read. They are quick reads, but you won’t be disappointed. I hope! LOL

I’ve finished another book called WALK A MILE, that I’m currently revising and editing, editing, editing, always editing, but I’m looking for an agent on this one. It’s a good book. It has no real genre, and I think that’s hurting it. I don’t know where it fits it.

And now I have this book, THE ADVOCATE, which is crime and suspense. I plan to enter this into a first crime novel competition, as this will be my debut novel. I’m so excited about this I can’t even sit still. I keep looking at the manuscript and squealing!

I’m now working on an epic fantasy novel, about 30,000 words into what will likely be about 120,000 words complete. R&R and the kids have been pushing me to finish this one and I have four months in which to do it. I’m working on it every day.

I also have Covington Confessions, a series of chick lit novels I’m working on when I get in the right mood for them. They are an awesome, lighthearted set of novels all set in the fictional town of Covington. With multiple characters appearing in more than one books, these lighthearted toned novels deal with some hefty subjects, like body image and obesity, sexual assault, domestic violence, and suicide, but does it in a non-threatening, easy way where all the characters become survivors instead of victims.

These things take time, but I’m writing every day. I’ve ever told Lynn all my stories and asked her, if I croak before I can write them all, to ensure they get finished, by either writing them herself, or hiring somone to finish them. You can’t die at chapter twenty-one!

And I promised myself I would finish RELUCTANTLY HUMAN before I croaked too.

Guess I just can never die! That works for me!

So that’s my writing news for the day. Yay! me!!!

I love and need you all.

Love and stuff,

Michy
